Hey Indianapolis Superbowl travelers–while you’re in town, check out the Comic Carnival and Nostalgia Emporium at 7225 N Keystone Ave. Of particular note is the recently acquired “Puterbaugh Comic Collection.” Originally purchased at PXs during World War II in the European theater and enjoyed in the foxholes and trenches of Germany (yes, that’s true). They were subsequently mailed home and have lived in Grandpa’s attic till now.

The Puterbaugh family name is famous in Indianapolis for its connection to Bill Puterbaugh who finished the Indianapolis 500 eleven times in the top 10, and for many other members who are working in the racing industry to this day.
Of course, these are not of “Mile High” condition, but they don’t have bullet holes or blood on them at least! This gives them a very interesting and unusual history and makes them affordable! Take a trip back in time and check ‘em out.

These and many other Gold and Silver Age treasures are available at Comic Carnival, the nation’s oldest single owner comic book speciality store (yes Mark is still here).
