These well used Golden Age DCs were a great pleasure to acquire this month. They’re sure to go quickly!
These low grade comics from the 1940s and the 1950s are a real rarity, and many are the only copies the current staff have ever seen in person.
We’ve had the great fortune to acquire several nice Silver Age Keys in 2017! Please stop by to take a look at these beauties!
Comic Carnival is always buying back issues! We’re concentrating on pre-70s stuff, of course, but there is rarely a week that goes by that we don’t add something to our collection of 100s of thousands of back issues. As an example, here’s a selection of books either acquired in 2016 already, or restocked from our storage.
Of course we’d love to have all the Marvel Silver Age Comics ever published. While we’ve never reached that lofty goal, you can bet we’re adding more of it that any other category we see offered to us.
If you’re interested in comic back issues, we would love to get the chance to impress you with our store inventory.

WALT DISNEY’S FANTASIA CUT-OUT BOOK
We’ve just recently gotten this fantastic bit of Disneyana into our store, and boy is it a beauty! One of the only things produced in association with Disney’s more adult oriented movie, this rare treasure from 1940 is complete and unpunched!
Inside front cover text includes “Instructions For Setting Up And Putting Into Action The Panorama Of Mickey’s Orchestra And The Ballet Of Comic Dancers.” Punch-outs include Ben Alli Gator, Mlle. Upanova, Bacchus And Jacchus, Hyacinth Hippo, Elephant Dancer, Baby Pegasus, Zuess, Melinda The Centaurette, Brudus The Centaur, Mickey As Sorcerer’s Apprentice, others.
While this book in and of itself is rare, adding to its value from a collectors standpoint is the fact that it features the character “Sunflower” which was deleted from the film by Disney.
“Sunflower” is a young black centaurette eating a slice of watermelon. Starting with the 1960 theatrical re-release of the film, Sunflower was cut from the movie, for obvious reasons. In all of the various re-releases on video cassette, laser disc and DVD, she has remained missing. She originally appeared in the pastoral symphony section of the film and was featured in three shots performing menial duties for the white female centaurettes.
6 leaves of punch-out figures printed in color. 13 x 13 inches, stiff boards. First printing, Authorized edition #950. Published by Whitman Publishing Company, [Racine, Wisconsin, 1940]
